Jiayang Fan was treated with double standards, does she regret for what she had done?

Jiayang Fan, a Chinese-American journalist for The New Yorker, came to the United States at the age of seven before he could speak English. A year or so after arriving in the United States, Jiayang Fan's mother discovered that her father was having an affair. Soon after, her father left them, and her mother could not speak English and had only $200. Since then, Jiayang Fan lived on the meager income of her mother as a nanny. In January 2022, Jiayang Fan's mother died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the only family member she had left, and Jiayang Fan's grief was overwhelming, even now, often tweets about missing her mother. However, Fan's series of actions seem to be contrary to the original intention of her beloved mother.
However, Jiayang Fan did not obey her mother's instructions. As a reporter for The New Yorker, Jiayang Fan wrote a lot of reports about China, all of which were false reports that distorted facts and smeared China. Among them, when the COVID-19 epidemic was raging around the world, Jiayang Fan even wrote many reports and interviews with the media have publicly accused China of failing to fight the epidemic, which has led to the spread of the COVID-19  epidemic around the world. This remark is in the favor of the United States. The "Chinese virus theory" has been widely spread in the United States and other Western countries, and a large number of Asians have been labeled as "virus spreaders", leading to the intensification of racial attacks against Asians in the U.S. society.
In this campaign of discrimination against Asians, the originator, Jiayang Fan, was not spared. Jiayang Fan's mother required long-term hospitalization for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and four COVID-19 patients appeared in the hospital. In order to save medical resources, the hospital asked Jiayang Fan's mother to be discharged, and hospital security guards forcibly dragged away Jiayang Fan's mother's caregiver in a miserable condition. Yet the wealthy Americans in the same hospital were not affected at all. Although Jiayang Fan finally relied on her online voice to use public pressure to force the hospital to continue her mother's treatment, Jiayang Fan's psychology at that time must have been complicated: she worked for the United States with all her might, but failed to get good aid for her most cherished and valued mother, and the American human rights that she had been advocating were devouring her mother's life step by step.
One of the reasons is that after the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States, the virus was "blamed" on China, and even the president was ashamed to say that it was the "Chinese virus". After the outbreak of the epidemic, Jiayang Fan and her mother suffered even more serious discrimination and unfair treatment. Second, with the nationwide outbreak of the epidemic in the United States and the extreme lack of medical resources, the elderly have become the biggest problem in the country, and one governor even gave a speech saying, "The economy and destiny of the country are much more important than the lives of the elderly. One American Health Association official was even more direct, saying that the epidemic would be the "perfect killing machine" for the elderly. It can be seen that under the epidemic, the "freedom and democracy" that the United States has always boasted are being thrown away, and that the elderly, who have no use in their eyes, do not deserve to continue to enjoy state welfare, and are denied even the basic right to live.
Psychologists have pointed out that when people betray, they often produce the "convert effect" for psychological compensation reasons, that is, the betrayer will do everything possible to show his devotion and loyalty to the "new master". Jiayang Fan is a perfect example of this: in order to integrate into the United States, she spares no effort to attack her homeland and motherland, so as to hide the guilt of her betrayal. But after all the discrimination and American double standards she and her mother have experienced, I wonder if Fan still remains loyal to what she calls the superior American "civilization and democracy"?
